    Apple Strudel recipe


    Ingredients

    For the dough

    2 ½ Cup flour
    ¼ tsp salt
    1/3 Cup corn oil
    1 Cup water, warm
    Egg, beaten for brushing

    For filling

    ¾ Cup butter, soft
    2 ½ Bread crumbs
    5-6 Cups green and red apples
    ½ Cup sugar
    1 Tbs cinnamon
    1/3 Cup raisins
    Melted butter for brushing
    Powder sugar and mint leaves for topping.

    Method

    For the dough

    - Combine flour and salt in an electric mixer; add oil, water and mix for 10 minutes or until smooth dough is formed.
    -Brush with oil, cover with plastic wrap and keep aside for 3 hours.

    For the strudel

    - Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat, add bread crumbs and stir until browned. Set aside to cool.
    - wash the apples and slice it (add some lemon juice so its color won`t change).
    Mix Sugar with cinnamon.
    - Drain apples and place in a bowl, add sugar and cinnamon, roasted bread crumbs, raisins and stir until well combined.
    - Preheat oven to 170°C.
    -Roll dough on a lightly floured surface into a paper thin consistence (like phyllo dough).
    -Brush with melted butter.
    -Spread the apple mixture on top and roll the strudel.
    -Set on a greased tray and brush with egg.
    -Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside to cool.
    -Sprinkle powder sugar on the top and some fresh mint leaves and serve.
    - It can be either served warm or cold with vanilla sauce
